Bring the Akhara Home: Why We Started Pehlwan

Long before there were gyms, there were akharas. Here is why we build strength equipment for the desi household.

Long before there were gyms, there were akharas — community strength schools where the pehlwan was built with bodyweight, discipline and mugdar clubs.

Why it matters today

British South Asians are among the least physically active groups in the UK. Not because the drive for strength disappeared, but because the spaces built for fitness rarely felt built for us.

Strength at home

Pehlwan builds equipment for the front room, the garage and the space you already have — so training fits around family life, on your own terms.

This isn't about starting something new. It's about remembering something we already had.
